Rebecca E. Hirsch has written more than ninety books for children. A botanist and biochemist by training, she enjoys sharing her love of science and inviting young readers to discover the natural world. Her books have received multiple starred reviews, a National Council of Teachers of English Notable designation, a Riverby Award for Excellence in Nature Writing, a Green Prize for Sustainable Literature, a Green Earth Book Honor, and spots on numerous best book lists. Some of her recent titles include Rise to the Sky: How the World’s Tallest Trees Grow Up; Night Creatures: Animals That Swoop, Crawl, and Creep while You Sleep; Where Have All the Birds Gone? Nature in Crisis: and Where Have All the Bees Gone? Pollinators in Crisis. Rebecca lives with her family in a college town in the mountains of Pennsylvania.
